Football Nova Scotia is pleased to announce that Shawn McIntyre will be returning as the head coach of the provincial under-18 six-side program.

It will be his second stint in this role as he led the program in 2023. Previously, McIntyre served as special teams coordinator for the provincial under-16 team in 2021.

“I’m thankful to be back this year and very excited to continue to build off the success we had last year in the Atlantic Bowl,” McIntyre says. “In the few years that I have volunteered with FNS, I’m pleased to see the skill level continue to grow as we continue making our mark in inter-provincial play.”

McIntyre, also known as “Coach Mac," brings a wealth of experience to this position. Since 2019, he has been the assistant head coach of the Atlantic Football League’s (AFL) Dalhousie Tigers.

Previous to the Tigers, McIntyre was the special teams assistant coach with USPORTS’ Saint Mary’s Huskies in the 2017-2018 season.

From 2018-2020, McIntyre coached with the Woodlawn Panthers, who competed in the School Sport Nova Scotia Football League (SSNSFL). He coached the Maritime Women’s Football League’s (MWFL) Halifax Xplosion from 2017-2019.

While he was residing in Toronto for a time, McIntyre coached the Toronto Jr. Argonauts of the former Ontario Football Conference (2014-2016) and the Ajax-Pickering Dolphins of the former Ontario Varsity Football League (2012-2014). At the high school level, he was head coach of the Newtonbrook North Stars from 2009-2011.

During his playing career, McIntyre suited up for the Northern Football Conference’s (NFC) Toronto Raiders and semi-pro team Buffalo Gladiators.

Away from the field, McIntyre resides in Dartmouth with his family. He works in the communications and marketing field. For the past nine years, McIntyre has been coaching basketball, including his son’s under-10 team.
